Mahaperiyava Knows Everything...

Image result for mahaperiyava
Hey guys. I already posted an article about the Saraswati River yesterday. It is pretty long and it's pretty good. I spent quite a bit of time researching about the topic and spent some effort in that article. But today, I've decided to post an article about Mahaperiyava himself. I thought, "Since this blog's title is called Mahaperiyava Satsangam, I should post an article about Mahaperiyava." My third translation is still under way and I've gotten most of it done. I'm estimating that I'll be posting it around next week. With that said, I'll be happy to introduce the article, "Mahaperiyava Knows Everything..."

Sundarar Thevaaram (Lord Shiva's Assurance)

Hey guys. I'm posting a content that my dad has created on Sundarar Thevaaram. The background of this Pathikam (song) is that, once Sundarar was walking a long way to have Darshan of Lord Shiva. When he reached a place called Thirukurukaavur, he was so thirsty and tired that he was on the verge of dying. Lord Shiva appeared in the form of a Brahmin in front of him and gave him food and water which saved his life. Sundarar praised Lord Shiva through this Pathikam.
Whoever recites this Pathikam will have no dearth of food, will have abundant wealth, and will live disease-free. My dad gave the meaning to each of the stanzas of this Pathikam. This article below is fully in Tamil, so sorry if you can't read it. Below is also a video of this Pathikam being sung by a devotee of Maha Periyava.

Adding on to your crackers and sweets, I've found an article that'll not only bring the awareness of different species, but will also bring awareness about how we use our planet wisely. I hope this raises your attention and promotes welfare throughout the world. With that said, I'll be happy to introduce the article, "SAI Sanctuary: India's First Private Wildlife Sanctuary."

I have found a topic that blew my mind away, and will surely blow yours too. I'm also glad to say that I have started to work on my third translation which is under way. It is a really long audio, so it should take a while. But, I just wanted you guys to be updated with my work. From here onwards, every week I'll be posting this type of content. I'll be posting content about interesting Hindu article, works that my dad did, recent news about Mahaperiyava, and all sorts of stuff like that. Sakalakalaavalli Maalai by Kumara Guruparar

Image result for saraswathi

Hey guys. Happy Navarathri to all of you! On this auspicious Saraswathi Pooja day, I'm posting Sakalakalaavalli Maalai composed by Sri Kumara Guruparar. The background of this beautiful Tamil song is like this. About 200 years back, Kasi Viswanatha temple in Varanasi was locked out by the then Islamic rulers of India. Kumara Guruparar wanted to reopen this temple and establish a Mutt. But, when he spoke to the Islamic rulers about this, they insulted him and said that he couldn't speak a single word in Arabic and how come he came to ask for favors. Sri Kumara Guruparar composed this beautiful songs and praised Saraswathi, the goddess of speech and knowledge, and prayed for versatility in multiple languages. Goddess Saraswathi was very happy with his songs and bestowed him the full knowledge of Arabic and Hindustani language instantaneously. The very next day, Kumara Guruparar went to the ruler again and spoke in pure Arabic and asked them to reopen the temple and also grant him some land for establishing a Mutt. Impressed and surprised over his knowledge of Arabic language overnight, the Islamic rulers granted his wishes. If we also chant these songs, Goddess Saraswathi will certainly grant us the same boon such as mastery over speech and language.

Sandhyavandana Mantra Rushi, Chandas, and Devatha

                          Image result for sandhyavandanam english

Hey guys. I'm publishing Sandhyavandhana Mantras Rishi Chandas and Devathas compiled by my father. In Sandhyavandhanam, we have a lot of Mantras. For each Mantras, there is a Rishi, Chandas, and Devathas. A Rishi is the person who found the Mantra. Chandas is the meter of the Mantra. Devatha is the God for which the Mantra is invoking. Viniyokam is the application of the Mantra. I do Sandhyavandhanam like many others so I thought it would be interesting to know the history behind it. This is fully in Tamil, so sorry if you can't read it. I will be posting content like this every week so stay tuned and enjoy.

About the Author

My name is Vageeshwar Srinivasan and I'm an 8th grader studying at Sam H. Lawson middle school in Cupertino. My mom conducts this Mahaperiyava Satsangam every month to educate people on different aspects of our Hindu religion. Our Hindu religion consists of multifarious stories involving our Hindu Gods. There are a myriad of stories that describe how our Hindu religion originated and developed through time. Each Hindu story collection is taken as an allegory by scholars to interpret the true meaning of birth, life, death, and afterlife. My mom takes one of these amazing epics and transforms into her own excavation of the true meaning behind ourselves. In each Satsangam she explains the story and elucidates the true meaning to all of us. But, my mom only describes the events in Tamil, my mother tongue. Although my mom could conduct the Satsangam in English, she thinks that the story would come alive only if it was said in Tamil. Since I can read, write, and speak Tamil fluently, I could understand the value behind each word she puts forth to us. My mom used to tell me these stories to me when I was young, but I never really understood the real moral of the story. I usually just listen to it as if I was listening to a tall tale. But a few weeks ago, many of our dear friends, who didn't speak Tamil, were very eager and interested to listen to our Mahaperiyava Satsangam. But, as we explained that we only conduct our Satsangam in Tamil, their smiles turned into frowns. That's when I thought, "Hey, why can't I translate whatever my mom says in Tamil to English so that everybody can come to know about it?" That's when I started to translate those Tamil words into English. I thought it was a simple job. Boy was I wrong. It took me approximately a week, yes a week, to put my first story together in English. I spent about 21 hours listening to the tape and inserting the correct words by myself since I wanted to surprise my family. But, I did it. I never gave up on myself. Once I take an action, I won't stop until I finish the work. I felt so blessed to be bilingual and that I could help a lot of people to understand my mom's work. My main purpose of this blog is to post the English translations that I have done and to keep you updated with our Mahaperiyava Satsangam. I think I'll be done with my translations a lot faster because I can have help from my family and friends. If you ever feel like contacting me or telling me what I should add to this
blog to spice it up, feel free to comment on my posts.

Our Mission

Hello guys! I'm Vageeshwar Srinivasan and I have created this blog for other people to be updated with the information about our Mahaperiyava Satsangam. My mom, Vidhya Srinivasan, conducts this Satsangam every month. Each month she covers a different topic on the Hindu religion. This Mahaperiyava Satsangam was started on December of 2014 and has been running ever since. We have conducted 20 Satsangams so far. On the summer of 2014, my family went to India for 2 months for a vacation. In India, we made a trip to Kanchi Matam in Kancheepuram. There, we met Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal and Vijeyandra Saraswathi Swamigal, both disciples of Chandrashekarendra Saraswathi Swamigal (Maha Periyava). Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal spoke to my mom telling that she should start a Satsangam so that youngsters can come to know about what Hinduism actually is. From hearing that, my mom took his words and started the Maha Periyava Satsangam. Keep visiting this website for updates on our Satsangam and other important notices.
